A 33-year-old man in Montreal's St-Michel neighborhood died following an altercation with police officers who responded to a 911 call about a man in crisis. The incident occurred when the man reportedly wielded a knife and threatened to harm himself and others. Despite attempts by officers to de-escalate the situation, he was shot when he advanced towards them. He later died in hospital. Quebec's independent police watchdog, BEI, is investigating the incident to determine the circumstances and ensure protocol was followed.
