Local organization Corridor Culturel just announced "Les Machines", a unique musical event set to take place on the Lachine Canal from May 1 to 29.

The event, presented in partnership with Parks Canada and Le Monde Studio, creates an opportunity to showcase Montreal's cultural heritage and enhance the value of Montreal's southwestern neighbourhoods as the birthplace of jazz in Canada.

The highlight of the month-long event will be an exclusive showcase on May 14 from 2-6 pm at Hangar 1825, featuring four artists representing the diversity and up-and-coming talent of the local music scene: Gayance, MODLEE, Naïma Frank, and Olivia Khoury, who will share their perspectives on the impact of jazz and transmit this musical heritage in a contemporary and captivating way.

The event promises to be a good one, with music spilling out onto the Canal as people walk and bike by. Tickets for the event are $15 for early birds (until May 11) and $20 at the door. You can buy them in advance here.

In addition to the concert, "Les Machines" will promote the artists through four giant music boxes, one for each artist, specially created for the occasion and scattered on the Lachine Canal from May 1 to 29. These creative installations will invite the public to interact with the music and discover the artists' talents while appreciating the surrounding environment.

"Les Machines is a signature project of Corridor Culturel: the discovery of Montreal's heritage and the highlighting of local talent. We are proud to animate and enhance the Lachine Canal and to make it a place of gathering and discovery.”

– Paul Hugo Baptiste, Director of Corridor Culturel
