Montreal can have such butt-ugly spring seasons that images of flowers breaking through the crust of the last winter's salt and dirt just doesn't feel right. But this weekend? It's just pulsing with a desire to create something new out of the familiar.

Whether it’s reworking old venues, remixing traditional meals, reclaiming dance floors, or rallying around community spaces like Bâtiment 7 in Pointe-Saint-Charles, there’s an undercurrent of shedding skins and starting fresh, together. Even the headlines—from tariff tensions to metro funding—hint at breaking points and rebuilding.

From the stage play Scorpio Moon and its story of fractured friendship and identity, to jazz jams and sugar shack reimaginings, to the quiet opening of Limbo in Little Italy and a new MMFA exhibition, there's a lot to dive into.

Activities, parties, points of interest, art exhibitions, you name it: These are the weekend events you don't want to miss.

An oceanfront therapy room

What if the best medicine wasn't a pill, but a place?

At Cutty Sark Motel on York's Long Sands Beach, every room faces the Atlantic. The prescription is simple: windows open to salt air, waves crashing below, and evenings in Adirondack chairs where guests trade recommendations over wine.

This three-story oceanfront retreat is where surfers greet dawn, guests collect sea glass and shells, and even the most tightly-wound visitors exhale at first glimpse of the water.

Special for Canadian readers: Mention this article when booking directly with Cutty Sark to receive 20% off your stay.
