A true institution in Sutton’s village core, La Rumeur Affamée has been satisfying hungry locals and visitors alike since 1999. Now helmed by a new team—Kim Besré, Jean-Philippe Maurice, Julie Laperle, and the Laiterie Charlevoix—this fine grocery store blends tradition with a fresh perspective while spotlighting the best of local producers.
Part bakery, fromagerie, and charcuterie counter, La Rumeur Affamée offers a treasure trove of Quebec-made delicacies. Bread and pastries are baked onsite, with highlights from local favourites like Arhoma. Don’t miss the decadent sugar and fruit pies from La Fournée des Sucreries de l’Érable, or house-made classics like meat pies and pâtés by co-owner and pastry chef Julie Laperle.
The shelves are lined with honey, spices, and artisanal oils, alongside a curated selection of Quebec wines and ciders. The shop even brews its own beer, La Rumeur Assoiffée, including a recent cranberry and ginger grisette made with Sutton Brouërie.
